Despite widespread criticism of a Ministry of Labour draft law on workers' rights in the Emirates, political stability and policy continuity remain very high. Indeed, the fact that the Labour Ministry posted the draft law online to solicit feedback suggests that UAE officials may be inching toward a measure of political give and take. The draft law prompted a stern critique from Human Rights Watch that focused primarily on the absence of provisions to protect migrant workers from abuse. The complaint meshes with one of the primary sticking points within the UAE-US FTA negotiations; namely US demands for the insertion
