Political Risks Remain A Concern
April 2007 | Political Risk AnalysisDespite the oil driven boom, Algeria remains a story of high potential and high risk. Indeed, with major reconstruction projects, a US$80bn five year development plan and plentiful oil and gas resources the country looks set to become increasingly attractive to investors both domestic and foreign. According to the Minister of Participation and Investment Promotion Hamid Temmar, Dubai's Emaar Properties is expected to make investments of over US$20bn in real estate and tourist projects. GDP growth should average over 4.5% annually over the forecast period, while the current account and fiscal positions should remain more than comfortable despite moderating oil
