Domestic Banking: A Work In Progress
June 2007 | Market StrategyBMI View: Namibia's financial system vulnerability indicators are healthy, and are underpinned by the close integration of the sector with its counterpart in South Africa. But the bulk of domestic banking business is done with the state, large companies and wealthier households, leaving large parts of the population disenfranchised. Government is cautiously trying to broaden access to banking services, which is critically important to the creation of the small businesses needed to cut unemployment.
