With the smooth passing of parliamentary polls in May as expected and the ruling coalition retaining its majority, we see little threat to policy continuity, although voter apathy indicated by the poor turnout remains a worry long term in a country that is on a transition from years of civil war. Terrorist activity remains an ongoing concern but we feel the security forces are sufficiently in control of the situation and there is little public appetite for a return to conflict, which should mean the violence is contained.
