Oman's oft-cited political stability remains one of its greatest strengths, and nothing over the last month has caused us to amend our very high ratings. Indeed, if anything, the situation is marginally better, thanks to a boost in relations with China. As we explore elsewhere in this publication (see page 3), warm ties with the Asian giant are a strong economic advantage, given its need for oil supply. On June 28, Oman became the 49th country to join a 'friendship association' with China, with a fund set up to support youth and cultural exchange initiatives.
