Macroeconomic Forecast Morocco

September 2007 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

We see growth shrinking to under 2% this year as a result of adverse climatic conditions which have dramatically reduced agricultural output. A 17.9% contraction in the agricultural sector in 2005 saw growth plummet to 0.9%. We expect the economy to bounce back strongly in 2008, barring further adverse climatic conditions, to 5.5%, while the government's reform efforts and strong FDI going forward should help reduce dependence on the volatile agricultural sector.
