Gulf: The Oil Boom Effect On Business
October 2007 | Market StrategyThe region covered in this publication scores reasonably well in our new business environment ratings, with an average overall score of 49.6, slightly higher than the world average of 47.8. However, the picture is more impressive when we exclude the outliers (Iran, Iraq and Yemen). Taking the average of GCC scores gives an average of 57.6, up from 55.9. This is reflective of the opening up of these six economies to private sector investment over recent years, which has boosted scores in the 'market orientation categories' in most cases.
