President Ali Abdullah Saleh has announced a reform initiative related to constitutional amendments that aims to 'create a full presidential system'. The ten point amendment plan includes proposals to reduce the presidential and parliamentary term by two years each - the former from seven to five years and the latter from six to four years - and to allocate 15% of the parliament's 301 seats to women. We welcome these developments as such changes should prove positive for Yemen's political reform process.
