With elections only six weeks away Sultan Qaboos created two new ministries, for environment and fisheries, and reshuffled the cabinet last month. Althoughn the Sultan gave no reason for the changes elections to the Shura Council - a body that advises the government on legislation - are due to take place in October. We uphold our view that these polls will reaffirm Oman's stable political environment of a pro-regime government and with Oman scoring full marks in the policy continuity and policy-making process categories of our ratings, an anticipated problem-free poll should reiterate the Sultanate's strong
