November 2007 | Ratings Update

The political situation in Lebanon remains fraught after the time ran out to find a new president before Emile Lahoud's mandate expired. Going forward we therefore expect further political instability and Lebanon thus scores a dismal 13.3 in the policy making-process category of our ratings, with scores of zero out of ten in the policy-formation and policy-enactment categories contributing to this score. Overall Lebanon scores 33.8 in our short-term political risk ratings, which reflects the current problems, and recent developments in the political sphere and a continuation of the political deadlock present a downside risk to this already terrible score.
