Our short political risk rating remains unchanged, in spite of a recent spate of riots in Shi'a dominated areas, by over 500 demonstrators demanding compensation for alleged human rights violations between 1980 and 1990. We do not expect the riots to impact on Bahrain's sound political rating as the authorities responded strongly using teargas and rubber bullets to disperse demonstrators and the police have so far arrested 39 people.
