Macroeconomic Forecast Uganda
January 2008 | Macroeconomic ForecastsWe forecast that Uganda's current account deficit will increase only moderately over the course of 2008 and 2009, with our projections currently standing at 3.8% of GDP for both years (up from an estimated 3.4% of GDP in 2007). While export growth is likely to hold up strongly, ongoing strong real GDP growth is likely to lead to further rises in import demand, which will, in turn, weigh on the current account balance.
