A Border Line Case
January 2008 | Ratings UpdateGovernment officials of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) met on December 16 2007 and signed an agreement which should pave the way for further talks on border and oil exploration rights. The agreement also stated that joint police patrols in the disputed areas along the border would commence in January. Although we believe that there is only limited risk of full-scale armed conflict between the countries in the short term, tensions over the border area are unlikely to cease anytime soon.
