February 2008 | Macroeconomic ForecastsThe ongoing activity in Lebanon's ports, as well as some infrastructural rebuilding (under the auspices of both the government and Hizbullah), and a low base effect from last year's war with Israel will keep GDP growth broadly in positive territory, with a return to violence and civil unrest the key downside risk. We see expansion coming in at around trend-level (2.0%) for the next few years, barring a significant improvement in the political situation.
