As part of the Angolan government's programme to improve the supply of basic social services to the population over 2007-2008, the head of the parliamentary delegation of the 2nd, 4th and 6th commission of the National Assembly examined projects in the northern Malenje province in February 2008. The parliamentarian was reportedly pleased by progress made on electricity, drinking water, health, education, public services, defence and security. If successful, the programme should bring some nationwide poverty alleviation, thereby lowering short-term political risk in the country.
