Iraqi forces took control of the Karbala province, a Shi'a region in the south, from US forces last week after the handover was delayed for nearly three months following fighting between rival militia factions. The news is a positive step for the Iraqi government which is trying to gain complete control of Iraq amid internal strife between rival forces.
