October 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: Global demand for copper has risen by 4.9% year-to-date and should remain robust thanks to growing appetite from emerging markets - this will clearly support both economic growth and the kwacha. Although the overall forecast scenario remains bullish, the government cannot afford to relax on the inflation front: consumer price inflation slowed slightly in September (y-o-y) to 9.3%, but a return to double digits is a real possibility in the coming months.
