DRC: Normality Returning?

Cautious re-engagement in dialogue between the government and the opposition in the Democratic Republic of Congo occurred in April, after the political violence of late March. By late April, the main opposition party, the Movement for the Liberation of Congo (MLC), had returned to parliament, after a boycott triggered by the previous month's crisis. The crisis, which saw security forces clash with (and rout) the private army of opposition leader Jeanne Pierre Bemba, resulted in the death of somewhere between 200 and 500 people.
