May 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsWe expect Tanzania to record faster economic growth this year of 7.35%, up from 5.93% last year on the back of greater government investment levels resulting from the increased funds available due to debt relief. Heavy capital goods imports, while weighing on growth last year, should also help to boost exports going forward as a result of boosted domestic capacity. Power remains a key risk to growth, however, with the major rationing seen last year slashing more than 1pps off
