May 2007 | Ratings UpdateFrance has increased its troop presence in CAR following the resumption of heavy fighting in the north of the country by rebel group Union of Democratic Forces for Reunification (Union des Forces Democratiques pour le Rassemblement: UFDR). France has deployed 100 soldiers based in Gabon to CAR, as well as increasing air support for intelligence gathering flights over the town of Birao, where the heaviest fighting has been seen.
