May 2007 | Ratings UpdateFormer governor of the Central Bank of Kenya Andrew Mullei has been formerly acquitted of corruption by a Kenyan anti-graft court. On account of a lack of evidence, Mullei was cleared of charges that he abused his position of influence as head of the CBK to award lucrative contracts to his son and three associates. Irrespective of the validity of the ruling, the decision will likely cause some resentment among locals, who feel that little is being done to hold the political elite to account over various fraud charges.
