Following a peace deal which was mediated last year by Eritrea, former east Sudan rebels have left their camps and have been deployed to designated sites around main towns, where they will be disarmed or integrated into government forces. The area is key for Sudan's economy, containing the country's largest gold mine and its only port - yet it has one of the highest malnutrition rates and there is little development. The move to disarm and integrate the rebels bodes well for Sudan's conflict score which is currently a lacklustre
