Peace Negotiations Stalled

The resumption of peace-talks between the government and the Lord's Resistance Army is in for another delay, which the latter attribute to their failure to raise US$2mn to fund travel costs and reach rebel commanders in their jungle hideouts. Lingering fears of being arrested by the International Criminal Court, despite the governments agreeing to settle the accountability issue domestically, are also likely to play a key role in the stalling of the negotiations. While a lasting settlement could still be some time away we are optimistic about the prospects of an eventual resolution to the two decade long conflict, which bodes well for national stability ahead.
