September 2007 | Ratings UpdateThe ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) is now enjoying better relations with the international community than it has done since the disputed elections of May 2005, after which the opposition demanded a re-vote on the grounds of electoral irregularities. However, the EPRDF has managed to ride out the ensuing storm of political and social protest and now appears secure in power. The government's decision to send troops into Somalia in support of Somalia's Transitional Federal Government (TFG) in late 2006 won it the approval of key allies such as the US.
