September 2007 | Risk SummaryIn mid-September interim Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed was targeted by suicide bombers, in an attack which left 11 people dead and 18 injured. Ahmed survived, although his brother and five members of his team were killed. The car bomb marked the first instance of suicide bomb attacks in the war-torn country, and as such signals a worrying development in the conflict.
