IMF Sees Potential For EM Instability

The latest Global Financial Stability Report from the International Monetary Fund suggests that fund managers could be underestimating the financial risks to EM. During the crisis that continues to threaten financial markets with volatility, managers have noted the relative resilience of emerging market asset prices. Within these pages Investec 's Peter Eerdmans observed that among debt markets, EM was the last risk to sell off. What is more, even when it finally did fall, it traded alongside US Treasuries, rather than displaying the volatility of yesteryear.
