October 2007 | Ratings Update

Tanzania's President Jakaya Kikwete continues to carve out an increasingly significant international role for his country. In early October, the UN's Deputy Secretary General Dr Asha-Rose Migiro commended the country for its strong role in neighbouring Burundi's peace process, for which it has devoted significant time brokering negotiations with the one remaining rebel group there, the Forces for National Liberation (FNL).
