November 2007 | Ratings UpdateThe rebel Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) said on November 20 that it would go ahead with talks to end decades of conflict with the government. According to media reports, the group is in disarray following a split among its military leadership. LRA spokesman Godfrey Ayoo said that several fighters were cast out in October 2007 after being found guilty of working with unspecified 'external hostile forces' to destabilise the LRA. The weakening of the rebel movement bodes well for Uganda's 'social stability' score in our short-term political risk ratings.
