May 2007 | Ratings UpdateParliamentary polls planned for June are unlikely to take place. Recently appointed Prime Minister Lasana Kouyate has stated that 'we are nearly in May already. If we organise elections under these conditions, it will be a rushed job.' It is not up to Kouyate alone to decide on a postponement, and legally it is the responsibility of the interior ministry to organise the polls.
