The peace agreement signed in July 2006 between the government and northern rebels known as the Democratic Alliance for Change (Alliance démocratique pour le changement: ADC) appears to be holding, despite some setbacks. The ADC had agreed to demobilise by October 2006 but failed to do so, following clashes with rival Algerian rebels. However, the July 2006 deal was revived in February 2007 without a resumption of anti-government violence. 700 rebels entered demobilisation camps in March, with most weapons handed over by the end of the month. The demobilised rebels are due to be integrated into the Malian security forces
