July 2007 | Ratings UpdatePresident Lansana Conte has moved to cement his control by naming a slate of regional governors and prefects perceived as being personally loyal to him. This follows on from the naming of Guinea's wealthiest businessman, who has been convicted in the past on graft charges, as the honorary president of the ruling Unity and Progress Party.
