July 2007 | Market AlertJudging by the Bank of Ghana's (BoG) most recent Financial Stability Report the health of the Ghanaian banking sector is on an encouraging trajectory. Strong asset growth coupled with improved profitability and better capital positions makes for a broadly promising story. Total banking sector assets in Q107 stood at GHC5.62bn, up 41.6% on the corresponding quarter last year. As a percentage of GDP assets have crawled up, from 34.6% in March 2006 to 49% in the corresponding month this year.
