The International Monetary Fund's most recent Article IV (released on August 16) provides some important food for thought as to Cameroon's economic achievements and challenges. The thrust of the review chimes with BMI's cautiously optimistic prognostications for the years ahead. While growth has picked up pace on the back of the devaluation of the CFA franc in 1994 and fairly prudent macroeconomic and structural reforms, there are nevertheless palpable obstacles in the way of faster expansion.
