BMI View:Gabon has wasted decades of oil revenues, but with crude production facing steady decline, better economic stewardship is urgently needed. The IMF is once again engaged with the government in the effort to reduce budgetary leakage, but it is a steep mountain to climb in the context of the political environment. The macroeconomic picture is pleasing over the short-term, but further out major uncertainties loom.
