October 2007 | Ratings UpdateAccording to the Ghanaian Chronicle, the war against the use of Ghana as a transit route by drug barons could decelerate ahead. Operation Westbridge, conceived by the British government to combat drug-trafficking is reportedly under strain. One of the key fears is that the swelling throughput of narcotics - while currently mainly shipped forward - could lead to greater local consumption and an attendant run up in criminal activity. The gravity of the situation is reflected in the Kufuor government's pledges to fight the trade and set an example to other countries in the region.
