Un-Constitutional Amendment?

Calls within the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) party for the amendment of article 6 (2) of the Constitution will be met with stiff resistance, according to John Fru Ndi, the Chairman of the main opposition party Social Democratic Front (SDF). It is thought that President Paul Biya's administration is attempting to amend the constitution so the president will be able to remain in office beyond two mandates. Fru Ndi warned that Cameroonians will 'go on the rampage' if such a manoeuvre is attempted.
