November 2007 | Ratings UpdateA presidential tribunal is reviewing President Yar'Adua's contested victory and Yar'Adua has vowed to honour the tribunal's decision. State tribunals have already dislodged four state governors from the ruling party, so a decision against Yar'Adua is possible. Should it occur, the best case is a free and fair election where one candidate wins a clear mandate - at worst the country enters prolonged uncertainty and a repeat episode of violence. Some say the case could reach a verdict by the end of the year, but previous contests have taken years to resolve and therefore the case could stretch into 2008
