We have instituted our new political risk ratings system for Gabon, with the country scoring 54.5 in our long-term ratings and 69.0 in our short-term ratings, underlining our view of the nation's short-term stability and long-term instability. The country scores a strong 86.7 in the short-term policy making component, but a weak 47.5 in our social stability category, mostly due to an extremely high unemployment rate. Our long-term ratings underline the country's unified central government - which faces a splintered, ineffective opposition - with a policy continuity score of 70, as well as the government's weak scope of influence, with
