January 2008 | Ratings UpdateAfter attending the Fourth Ministerial Consultations on Overseas Employment and Contractual Labour for Countries of Origin in Asia in Abu Dhabi, Qatar is planning to implement a number of initiatives to improve the working conditions of foreign labourers. In line with policies agreed by all Gulf states at the conference, the emirate plans to set up offices in Asia to give workers induction and counselling programmes on its language, culture and legal systems before they leave home.
