President Festus Mogabe will pass state house to his deputy, Ian Khama, at the end of March. The latter will have plenty of time to settle in, as the next general election, which the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is heavily favoured to win, is not until late 2009. Neither the BDP nor the opposition really know what to expect from Khama in terms of leadership style, as he has maintained his customary inscrutability so far.
