March 2008 | Ratings UpdateAlthough Iran continues to score a poor three out of ten in the regional profile category of our short-term ratings, a recent visit to Iraq by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad presents an upside risk to this score. The visit, which was the first by an Iranian President since 1979, was to discuss political and economic ties, and underlined the close relations between the two neighbours. That said, the visit was also a symbolic show of defiance by the Iranian President against the US, and our political risk ratings therefore remain unchanged for the
