March 2008 | Risk Summary

Sultan Qaboos will remain in near-total control of policy, ensuring a measure of stability and continuity going forward. There will be no major changes in his cabinet, though in late February the Omani leader appointed a new head of the Internal Security Service, Major General Abdullah Bin Rashid Bin Abdullah al-Kalbani, along with a number of other senior military and security officials.
