On the back of better debt management and the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative (HIPC) in 2006, Cameroon's external debt burden will remain relatively low over the years to come, standing at a forecast 28.9% and 26.9% of GDP in 2008 and 2009, respectively (down from 34.9% in 2007 and 44.1% in 2006).
