Ethiopia's government is to sever relations with Qatar due to 'Qatar's attempts to destabilise the sub-region and its hostility towards Ethiopia itself', according to Ethiopia's foreign ministry. The authorities reportedly believe that Qatar is giving around US$150,000 a month to Eritrea - a sum which then goes to the Ogaden National Liberation Front (insurgents in Ethiopia's Somali region).
