Bilateral ties between Madagascar and Asian countries continue to strengthen, with news that Madagascar is to sign a pact with India on agricultural cooperation, animal husbandry and fertiliser production. A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed, which will remain valid for a period of five years initially, and then be automatically renewed for a subsequent five-year period unless either party chooses to opt out. The likely strengthening of foreign relations that will stem from the pact bodes well for Madagascar's score in the 'security/external threats' category of our short-term political risk
