April 2008 | Ratings UpdateIraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has called on neighbouring states in the Gulf to honour pledges to cancel Saddam-era debts and also provide more political support to the war-torn country by reopening embassies in Baghdad. No Arab states currently have a permanent ambassador based in the Iraqi capital, and while some have said they will reopen their embassies, they have delayed plans, citing security problems as the motivating factor.
