After much controversy, the delayed run-off to decide the inconclusive presidential contest will now take place in late June. In our view, the risks to free and fair elections will be firmly to the downside, given the ruling ZANU-PF's iron grip on state institutions and the security forces. Furthermore, we believe that the potential for a deterioration in violence will remain substantial over the coming months.
