June 2008 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: We have revisited our standing forecasts and still feel they are valid, although our forecast for end 2009 inflation is the one indicator that may prove optimistic, but the sensible way to proceed is to see what effect the rate hike has on inflation and the pula over the next couple of months before thinking again. Otherwise, the economy remains on a strong growth path and there are no concerns on the external liquidity front. World prices for diamonds seem to be holding up, and Botswana's revenues from gems will increasingly be boosted as the new in-country processing facilities come on-stream over coming months.
