A newly established Ethiopian-US investment body, Ethio-American Investment Group , said in early June that it plans to build a US$37mn brewery at Maichew, in the northern Tigray region of Ethiopia. The group's chairman, Michael Gebre Mariam, said that production will start by the end of 2010 and the facility will have the capacity to produce 30mn litres of 'Raya Beer' each year.
