Only a few weeks after brokering a critical deal between opposing Lebanese factions to end the six-month presidential crisis, Qatar is now working with the Arab League in leading talks between militant group Hamas and Mahmoud Abbas's rival Fatah party. While we see reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah as an unlikely scenario, especially given that Abbas has said he would not talk to Hamas unless it gives up control of the Gaza Strip, Doha's neutral stance will be critical in keeping dialogue between the two going.
